Normal Is Just a Setting on Your Dryer

I can't say that the week of Bella's birth was normal, but then again what is "normal" with this pregnancy or with our family?

Lori's pregnancy has been a series of ongoing issues with one minor thing after another. During the first trimester, Lori suffered from all day sickness instead of your normal "morning sickness". As she began her second trimester, her sickness got better and then worse again. It didn't take us long to realize that this was not so "normal". We ended up in the ER with a stomach virus that left her severely dehydrated. As for her third trimester, well, this pregnancy would not make it that far.

The Week of Bella's Birth
Lori and I were both home on Monday. She did not have class and I was recovering from laparoscopic gall bladder surgery. Normal day. Check. Things began to pick up on Tuesday. As we were starting our "normal" morning routine, Lori realized she was spotting. There was no cause for real alarm, nothing heavy, nothing new, although it had been a while since this had happened. An ultra sound was ordered which revealed that all was.......you got it.....normal. She was told to take it easy and rest, which she did. By Wednesday, she doesn't feel good and by Thursday she has a low grade fever. All of this prompts more concerns and phone calls but nothing was too "out of the norm." On Thursday evening, we are wrapping up another normal week in a normal pregnancy, that is by the way, 26 weeks 4 days.
